Calle Mercaderes; Havana

Situated on Calle Mercaderes in Habana vieja (old Havana) this shady building is located only a few doors away from the Hotel Ambos Mundos where Ernest hemmingway lived in 1939 before deciding to settle on the island. The leaves of an acaica tree cast shadows over the facade of a typical spanish-colonial style building in this unusually quiet backstreet where local schoolchildren enjoy the shade.
